The functions of electrolytic capacitors in switching power supply include bypass, decoupling, filtering and energy storage. Generally, if the first foot is the negative pole, or the lead is the positive pole, the short lead is the negative pole.

In the power supply circuit, the rectifier converts AC into pulsating DC. After the rectifier circuit, an electrolytic capacitor with larger capacitance is connected, and the pulsating DC voltage after rectification becomes relatively stable DC voltage by utilizing its charging and discharging characteristics. In practice, in order to prevent the supply voltage of each part of the circuit from changing due to load raking, the output end of the power supply and the input end of the power supply of the load are usually connected with dozens to hundreds of micrometers of electrolytic capacitors.
