With the development of computer technology, parallel port and serial port are gradually disappearing on PC, and now even desktop computers have few parallel ports. But for engineers, parallel port and serial port are indispensable interfaces, especially serial port. For computers without serial port, the convenient solution is to use USB serial port chip to virtual a serial port. Many manufacturers have produced such chips, such as the CP210x series of Silicon LABS, TUSB3410 of TI, CH34x series of Nanjing qinheng, FT232 series of FTDI, PL230x series of Prolific, ARK3116 of Aike, etc. From the perspective of stability, FT232 series is still reliable. It can be used to debug programs without worrying about the blue screen.
Ft232r chip is a single-chip solution. Generally, it doesn't need peripherals. EEPROM including crystal oscillator, USB matching resistor and product information has been integrated in it. Ft232r also has some useful functions. Please refer to the ft232r data manual for details.
