A4988 is a DMOS micro step driver with converter and over-current protection. The product can operate bipolar stepping motor in full, half, 1 / 4, 1 / 8 and 1 / 16 step modes. The output drive performance can reach 35 V and ± 2. A4988 includes a fixed turn-off time current regulator, which can work in slow or mixed decay mode. The converter is the key to the easy implementation of A4988. As long as a pulse is input into the "step" input, the motor can be driven to generate micro steps. There is no need for phase sequence table, high frequency control line or complex interface programming. The A4988 interface is ideal for complex microprocessor unavailable or overloaded applications.

Product characteristics
 
1. It is suitable for driving stepping motor under 8V ~ 35V 2A;
2. Only simple step and direction control interface;
3. Five different step modes: full, half, 1 / 4, 1 / 8 and 1 / 16;
4. The adjustable potentiometer can adjust the maximum current output to obtain higher step rate;
5. Automatic current attenuation mode detection / selection;
6. Over temperature closing circuit, under voltage locking, cross current protection;
7. Ground short circuit protection and load short circuit protection
 
As a 3D printer, it needs a matching circuit module:
Arduino 2560 CPU core board
Ramps1.4 main control board
A4988 drive board stepper motor drive module (single head 4 pieces, double head 5 pieces)
LCD controller can be controlled by LCD and printed offline by SD card (optional)
 
Use Arduino to directly control the motor usage:
Connecting the UNO control step and dir as follows, A4988 can be braked.
1A, 1B are connected to one group, 2A and 2B are connected to another group. Generally, 1A 2A is connected to the positive pole, and 1B 2B is connected to the negative pole. Because the motors are different, it is better to try to see if the direction is right after connecting. If not, change the positive and negative.
